Now that I’ve been at home in Maryland for about six weeks, it’s already time to go back to Worcester with the rest of the team to work Coach’scamp.  Our school year ended with a wonderful team trip to Italy.  While in Italy, we played three games against professional Italian teams; we won all three games!  After a very long flight, we arrived in Rome early in the morning.  We were all so excited to see all of the historic architecture, especially the coliseum.  We spent a couple nights in Rome before going on to Vatican City.  We toured the Sistine Chapel, which was absolutely breath taking.  The artwork was phenomenal! Next, we stopped in Siena, which was a great stop for shopping and sightseeing.  Siena was also the location of our second game.  After Siena we headed to Florence which was another beautiful city of Italy.  The next day, in Pisa we got the chance to visit the leaning tower of Pisa.  We were all excited to take pictures and try to master the art of making our pictures look like we were holding up the tower.  Our last day in Italy was spent at the beach in San Gimignano.  The beach was absolutely beautiful and was the perfect way to end the trip.  Overall Italy was a great experience.  I really enjoyed the opportunity to play overseas with my teammates and take in all the gorgeous sights! Tomorrow I’ll be headed to Providence, where I will be meeting up with the rest of the team to spend a few days at Bethany O’Dell’s house before camp starts on Sunday!

Quite a few weeks have now passed since my last entry and now we are almost finished with the regular season. We are coming off of a great win over American who beat us in our first matchup. So right now we are 7-5 in the Patriot League, in a tie for third place. We have two more games left before playoffs, one against Colgate and the last one against first place Lehigh.

Second semester is now in full swing and spring break starts next week. Most students will be going home or going on vacation with friends, but the team and I will have a week of practice here at school to prepare for the Patriot League tournament held this year at Lehigh.

With the anticipation of playoffs and the championship game, this is the best time of year for basketball players. March madness is just around the corner and we are ready to go!

With wins over Lafayette, Army and Bucknell, we are 3-0 in the patriot league and off to a great start! Next, we play Navy on Wednesday in the Hart Center, as we try to extend our winning streak to seven!

As Christmas break is coming to an end I can’t believe these last few weeks have gone by so fast.  This new year has been treating the team well.  So far we have won four games in a row, with the most recent win coming against Lafayette in the first game of the patriot league season.

After spending a few days at home for Christmas, we played in a tournament in Philadelphia hosted by St Joseph’s University.  We went 1-1 at this tournament with a big win over Drexel. I spent New Year’s Eve with my teammates in Worcester at the Crowne Plaza, where we stayed until the dorms opened back up on the second of January.

Today we have the day off from practice after a long bus ride back to school last night from Lafayette.  With the heavy snow, the usual four hour trip took us six, including a much needed stop for ice cream at Friendly’s in Connecticut.  We’re now preparing for a tough home game against Army on Wednesday night!

Since my last blog, we got a huge win over Missouri this past weekend in Chicago at the Northwestern tournament!  Last night we had a tough game against UConn, the number one ranked team in women’s basketball and coming up this Saturday we have an afternoon game at Vermont.  As a team we’re still trying to find our way after a rough start to the season thus far.  With only three more games coming up before Christmas break, we’re focused on getting three wins, one game at a time, before going home for a few days to spend Christmas with our families!

Now that it’s December already, first semester is coming to an end.  Classes end next week and finals start December 13th.  This is always a busy time for me, having finals to study for and papers to write in addition to practice everyday and games twice a week.  I’m looking forward to the upcoming Christmas break, in which I will get to spend a few days at home with my family.  Then, when we come back to campus after our Christmas tournament at St Joe’s University we get to just focus solely on basketball until seconds semester classes start on the fourteenth of January.

With our last game coming up in our four game home stretch, we’re still looking to get our first win.  We’re playing St Peter’s on Tuesday who beat us last year at St Peter’s.  This would be a great game to get us on track and ready to go to Chicago for our Thanksgiving tournament.

With only two days of classes this week, I am looking forward to the Thanksgiving break from classes.  Unfortunately, I will not be able to go home to Maryland for Thanksgiving, but I will get to see my family in Chicago and I will eat Thanksgiving dinner with Bethany’s family and a few of my other teammates. This weekend we do not have any games so we’ll practice for the next few days in preparation for Tuesday’s game and try to get caught up on some work, otherwise.

Today is my mom’s birthday…Happy Birthday Mom!!

Bethany and I are sitting here watching some television, anxiously awaiting our scrimmage against Hartford at two o’clock today.  We just came back from our pregame meal at Kimball, and will probably head up to the Hart Center in about an hour.  We are all ready to go and anticipate a successful season.  After almost a full month of practice and scrimmaging against each other everyday, we are all excited to finally play against another team and get this season started!

The semester has continued to fly by and it’s already time to start selecting classes for next semester. Now that we’re almost two weeks into practice the team is looking really good and we’re counting down the days until our first game against Yale. Today happens to be our day off from practice, which gives me a chance to go out to dinner tonight to celebrate my birthday with my roommates! When this time rolls around next week, we’ll be preparing for our scrimmage against Hartford and the season will be underway!

With two more workouts to go this week, I’ll be on a plane home to Maryland Friday afternoon!  This coming weekend is Columbus Day weekend and with no classes or workouts on Monday or Tuesday, we get a four day weekend.  I am so excited to go visit my family for the weekend and am really looking forward to spending time with them.  Fortunately, my younger brother’s fourteenth birthday is Sunday, so I will be able to celebrate with him while I am home.  After break, we will be officially starting practice on October 17th, which means we are that much closer to our first game on November 15th!  Classes have been going well and midterms are quickly approaching, so I’ll be busier than ever with studying for tests and writing papers over the next couple of weeks.  It is beginning to get much colder outside, especially when walking up to lift in the morning with my teammates Bethany and Tayana, although there have been a good number of unusually warm days here and there. But after Columbus break I am anticipating the cold weather to come full force.  So I’m hoping for some nice warm weather at home this weekend and will be ready to get the season started with practice upon my return!

I’ve been at school now for two and a half weeks and everything is in full swing. I moved into Loyola with my teammate Bethany and my roommate since freshman year Samantha. We were all so excited to be back and anxious to set up our new huge room! After much thought about how the room should be arranged, we settled on splitting the room in half, with one half set up like a living room and the other half set up as the bedroom area.

Before I knew it, it was time to start classes on September 3rd. This semester I am taking Physics, Algebraic Structures, Introduction to Islam and Classical America. Now that I am two weeks into the semester, the workload has picked up and I’m always running from a team workout to class to Kimball to meetings with professors and back again. Basketball workouts have been going really well and everyone is excited about the new season. Right now we have weight lifting three times a week, individual workouts twice a week in addition to conditioning workouts twice a week and pickup games three times a week. Needless to say when Friday rolls around each week, my teammates and I, are more than ready for a little break. This coming Friday in particular will be a nice break from the week. We are driving to Harvard to cheer our football team on to victory over the Crimson!
